Hello, friends!
I am excited to share an easy and delicious morning breakfast smoothie with you today! If you are a busy mommy like me who sometimes skips breakfast because there’s not enough time to fix yourself a meal, this recipe is for you!
Most of you who have been following TTLP know I do Crossfit. I work out daily and even though my days can get busy planning styled shoots and completing Etsy orders, I don’t like to miss my classes. I try to be at the gym by 9:30 a.m. 4x a week. It’s my ‘me’ time. Well, not really. I still need to bring my youngest with me, but she stays at the play area with the other little ones!
My morning routine consists of getting our oldest ready for school, packing his lunch, feeding him and little sister breakfast. Most of the time, my husband and I don’t have time to feed ourselves. Can you relate?
I don’t like working out on a full stomach, but I need at least something due to high-intensity and weightlifting workout routines. Having said that, I love making pre-workout protein smoothies. They are super easy to make and they give me the energy and help me power through my workouts. And if I am running out the door, I can always bring my smoothie with me.
This Apple Peanut Protein Smoothie is my favorite! And with only 4 ingredients, you can whip up this delicious better-for-you smoothie!
While I was grocery shopping at Walmart, I decided to get the ingredients for my smoothie recipe: Jif Peanut Powder and Oikos Triple Zero Greek Nonfat Vanilla Yogurt. Have you tried any of these two products? If you haven’t, I hope you do! Jif Peanut Powder is great for smoothies and I love the fact is gluten free, non GMO – absolutely no sugar added. And if you are a big fan of Greek yogurt like me, you should definitely try Oikos Triple Zero! It has 0 fat, 0 added sugar* and 0 artificial sweetners – plus 15g of protein per 5.3oz! Can’t get any better than that!
*not a low calorie food
In addition to the peanut powder and Greek yogurt, I add milk, apples and ice. That’s it! Now you ask me why not add a banana? I love bananas, but for some reason I don’t like bananas in my smoothie that much! It’s a personal preference. You can absolutely add 1/2 or an entire banana to this recipe if you want to. To me, the apple adds just the perfect amount of sweetness, plus apples are rich in fiber and antioxidants. Hello, beautiful skin!
Crushed peanuts & apple wedges for garnish! (optional)
Ready to make your own?
Gather your ingredients:
- 1 large apple, cored and peeled *You can definitely leave the skin on for extra fiber!
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup Oikos Triple Zero Greek Nonfat Vanilla Yogurt
- 1 scoop (about 3 tablespoons) Jif Peanut Powder
- Ice
- Crushed peanut and apple wedges for garnish (optional)
Note: I particularly don’t like my smoothie too sweet. If you do, you can add a whole banana or some honey.
Place all ingredients in a blender. Cover and process until smooth. Pour smoothie into glasses, garnish with crushed peanuts and apple wedges if desired. Ta-da! Delicious protein shake you will absolutely love!
I used my old Oster blender we received as a wedding shower gift years ago, but I am totally crushing on this Oster® Blend-N-Go® MyBlend®. The design looks amazing! You can just fill, blend & go! Wouldn’t it be perfect to take it to the gym? Or work? You can take it anywhere you go! Simply fantastic!
I SO want you to try this Better-for-you Apple Protein Smoothie recipe! You can find both items at your local Walmart! Jif Peanut Powder in the Peanut Butter aisle and Dannon Oikos Triple Zero Greek Nonfat Yogurt in the dairy section!
